UK immigration changes aim to boost number of exceptional talent from Outside UK.

UK immigration changes aim to boost number of exceptional talent from Outside UK.

Changes to the immigration rules in the United Kingdom will help businesses in order to employ skilled international workers and at the same time support a stronger, more competitive economy, according to UK ministers.

Businesses looking to recruit top international talent can take advantage of the changes, which will support the UK digital technology sector and improve links with China, stated UK Immigration Minister James Brokenshire.

The changes include the opening up of the Exceptional Talent visa route to world-leading individuals in the digital technology sector by enabling Tech City United Kingdom to endorse visa applications from overseas and within UK.

The Immigration Minister also said that a new category for government-sponsored language teachers will create closer relationships with China. Longer periods of leave for skilled workers are also being introduced to increase flexibility for migrants.

‘These changes will ensure that the UK remains competitive in attracting global talent to work for British businesses, so that we can succeed in the global race. We are building an immigration system that works in the national interest as part of our long-term economic plan. One that is fair to hard working British citizens and legitimate migrants and tough on those who break the rules or flout the law,’ the Immigration minister added.

Expanding the exceptional talent route was announced by UK Prime Minister David Cameron last December and will allow Tech City UK to endorse top innovators and professionals in their field so that they can then come to the UK without the need for a sponsoring employer under Tier 2.

This will make the UK more attractive to top digital tech specialists and allow the digital technology industry to attract the best global talent from around the world.
