New Point-Based System from 01 January 2021

The New Point Based System Launching on 01 January 2021

The New point-based system provides flexibility to the UK immigration system to bring in workers from overseas.

The applicant will need a job offer from the UK and the employer must hold a sponsor licence with the Home Office, pretty much as it is now with the Tier 2 route.

The new system will allow applicants to fill in position from RQF level 3 and above.

The applicants will need to score a minimum of 70 points, however, 50 points are mandatory and rest of the points can be scored in accordance with the table introduced –

There will be an advantage of 10 points for PhD students and for the STEM PhD students – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics a total of 20 Points provided your qualification is linked to your employment

The numbers of migrants under this route will be controlled to a specific number every year and the Home Office would observe these from time to time.

The new set of rules how the new system will function and operate is yet to be published and likely we should these around the end of 2020.
