Immigration Act 2016 – Illegal Worker
The Immigration Act 2016 came in force on 12 July 2016 and has introduced new criminal offences for Illegal working. If you are now working illegally in the UK then the maximum sentence is 51 weeks in England and wales and six months imprisonment in Scotland as well as fines.
If you have got Immigration bail under the new form of immigration bail you will not be disqualified from working if you have been giving permission to work.
The penalty for employers for hiring illegal workers has also been increased under the Immigration Act 2016 and an employer can be fined up to £20,000.00 civil penalty.
