Changes to Financial Requirement for Appendix FM and Skilled Worker Visas

Changes to Financial Requirement for Appendix FM and Skilled Worker Visas to be announced

Thanks to the information published on the House of Common Library on 30 January 2024, there are new changes coming –

The new changes are –

  1. The care workers will not be allowed to bring immediate family members from 11 March 2024;
  2. The minimum salary for the sponsor skilled worker will rise from £26,200 to £38,700 from 4 April 2024 and will not include health and care workers and education workers;
  3. Changes will be made to shortage occupation list from April 2024 and will reduce the job titles available on shortage occupation;
  4. The income for the spouse visa will be raised from £18600 to £29000 from 11 April 2024 and will later be increased to £38700 in early 2025;
  5. The savings requirement will be raised from £62500 to £88500 from 11 April 2024;
  6. The graduate route will be reviewed and a report will be available from late 2024;

The statement of changes is likely to be coming from 19 February 2024. The changes are being made to reduce the number of migrations to the UK.

People already in the UK on a spouse visa or who apply for the visa before the new rules come in place will not be affected by these changes.

People already in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa are unlikely to be affected by the changes of £38700. Some people could be paid less as the ones who are new entrants or PhD researchers.

Full details need to be seen once the complete statement of changes are published.
